L’usine utilisera du nickel, du cobalt et du manganèse, pour lesquels il n’existe aucune norme dans l’eau potable.
Le gouvernement a donné son feu vert à la construction de la méga-usine de Northvolt, qui assemblera une gamme de produits toxiques pour fabriquer des batteries sur les rives du Richelieu. Faute d’un examen public, on ignore quel sera l’impact sur la qualité de l’eau de la rivière.
