About Organization notes
The organization note is a type of note on Praxis designed to describe an organization (nonprofit, business, citizen group, partner network, etc.) All organization notes are public and visible to everyone on the internet, whether they have an En commun account or not. En commun users can also use organization notes to reference them in other notes, add them to notebooks, and link them to Passerelles communities.
Anyone is encouraged to create an organization note if it does not already exist, regardless of their connection to the organization.
If you wish to write a General note or a Glossary term, check out Creating a note or Using the Glossary. If you’re ready to add an organization to Praxis, just keep reading! 👇🏻
Before adding an organization
Since everyone can create an organization note in Praxis, the organization you want to add might already be there! So the first step before creating an organization is to verify if it already exists. To do so, access the menu “☰” and click Organizations.

You’ll get to the Directory of organizations, where all the organizations are listed in Praxis. Use the search bar and filters to find an organization

If the organization is in the Directory
Great! You can integrate it to notebooks or link it to other notes. If you want to update the organization, you must Request editing rights to the current authors of the note. Click the three dots to the right of the name of the organization and then, click “Request editing rights”

A request to add you as author will be sent to the current authors. If your request is approved, you will be granted editing rights and will be displayed as author of the note.
If your organization is not in the Directory
Well it’s time you add it! Keep reading 👇🏻
Create an Organization note
If you're on Praxis, click on "Create" in the top right corner, and then on "New organization".

Content
Add the name, logo and description of the organization in the according fields. If needed, use the text editor to format text, link other notes or webpages or add images, files and videos.
Recommendations for the “Content” section:
- Add the mission of the organization. You can usually find that information on the organization’s website.
- Stay concise
- Use a descriptive and neutral voice (use third person)
- If the text comes from an external source, indicate the sources and use quotation marks when it is a direct quote

Address and geolocation
If the organization has an address, indicate it filling the fields. Check the “I wish to specify the location on the map” box and click “Geolocate using the address”. This will allow the organization to be displayed on maps in the Directory and in notebooks.

Websites
Add the organization’s websites if you wish to do so. You can add as many websites and social media pages as you want. Once the organization is created, the websites will be displayed right next to the organization’s logo.

Authors
Add other authors to the note. Authors can edit the note and delete it. They also receive and manage editing requests for that note. If you’re aware of people who work for the organization and have an En commun account, you could add them as authors.
License
Select the Creative Commons license for the note. If you pasted content from the organization’s website, make sure to check the box.

For more details, check out About Creative Commons licenses.
Linking a Community
Choose the community linked to your note if applicable. The organization note will be visible in the community to which it is linked, making it more accessible to the members of that community.
Create note
When you’re ready, just click “Create note” at the bottom of the creation page. You can always come back and edit the note later on.

Congratulations!
You've just added an organization to the Directory! Praxis users will now be able to reference it in their notes and add it to their notebooks, allowing them to create networks of knowledge around organizations. Speaking of that, have you yet discovered how to integrate a note into a notebook?
