It's a community thing!
On Passerelles, much of the information flows through communities — spaces that bring together multiple users around an issue, a theme or a project. Each person can join as many communities as they wish. So, what are you waiting for?
Accessing Communities
First, access the Community Directory.
Finding and Choosing a Community
Once in the Community Directory, find the community that interests you by entering keywords in the search bar or by using the sorting and filtering options. Use broad terms to maximize the number of results. For example, if you're interested in healthcare and wellbeing initiatives, type "health" into the search bar.
The various communities related to the searched keywords will then appear. If you like the results, click on the community that interests you.
Joining a Community
You'll arrive on the community's «About» page where you'll find a description of the community. If the community is public, you will see a ''Join'' button. Click "Join" and you will then automatically become a member of the community.
If you see a "Ask to Join" button instead, proceed to the next step.
Submitting a Membership Request
You may have selected a private community. The "Ask to Join" option, chosen by the community administrators, means your request must be approved before you become a member. If you wish to join this community, click "Request to Join" to submit a request.
Write a short message explaining why you want to be part of the community, then click ''Send my request''.
After submitting a membership request, you may need to wait a few days. The response time varies from one community to another. If you feel you've waited long enough, don't hesitate to Contact the Community Administrators.
Unlisted Community
You might have been invited to join a community that isn't visible in the Community Directory. This visibility option is chosen by the community administrators, ensuring that only those with the link to the community can request to join. If this is the case for the community you wish to join, make sure you have the link, then follow the steps described above to submit a membership request.
What's Next?
Once you're part of a community, you can write a message to the other members. You will also find the community's post in your News Feed.
