The University of Bristol is a Russell Group University in south-west England. Its main campus is based in Clifton, in the city of Bristol. Bristol is a research-intensive University, with 94% of its research ranked as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the latest Research Excellence Framework 2021. The University was founded in 1876 as University College, Bristol, and received its Royal Charter in 1909. It was the first higher education institution in England to admit women on an equal basis to men. Bristol is home to around 30,000 students and 8,000 staff from over 150 countries. Across 6 faculties, it offers more than 600 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a comprehensive range of subjects.
