Michael Eddy est un artiste et écrivain basé à Montréal, travaillant à travers divers médias, y compris le dessin, le texte, la vidéo, la sculpture, la performance et l’installation. Ses œuvres variées convergent autour de contextes historiques et politiques spécifiques, tels que les discours sur la liberté d’expression, la normativité des médias de masse et l’impact des changements technologiques sur la subjectivité. Le travail d’Eddy se caractérise par une curiosité ludique, qu’il utilise pour examiner de manière critique différents rôles et sphères. Il reconnaît que l’expérience personnelle façonne notre compréhension du savoir, le rendant unique pour chaque individu. Cette perspective amène souvent son travail à un niveau artisanal et personnel. Eddy a étudié les beaux-arts à Francfort et à Halifax. Il a exposé et publié ses œuvres à travers le Canada et à l’international.
Gratitude.me est un projet centré sur la création d’un roman graphique. Ce roman explore la propriété intellectuelle à travers le prisme d’un drame familial se déroulant dans un futur rapproché où une singularité d’intelligence artificielle, connue sous le nom d’Intelligence, contrôle l’économie et le gouvernement. Au cours de cette mini-résidence, Michael Eddy produira une épreuve de concept en risographie d’une section du roman graphique. Cette maquette servira à la fois de présentation éclair et d’artefact semblable à un brevet pour une future exposition (exposition au sens juridique).

Michael Eddy is a Montreal-based artist and writer working across various media, including drawing, text, video, sculpture, performance, and installation. His diverse works converge around specific historical and political contexts, such as discourses on freedom of expression, the normativity of mass media, and the impact of technological change on subjectivity. Eddy’s work is characterized by a playful curiosity, which he uses to critically examine different roles and spheres. He acknowledges that personal experience shapes our understanding of knowledge, making it unique to each individual. This perspective often brings his work to a handcrafted and personal level. Eddy studied fine arts in Frankfurt and Halifax. He has exhibited and published his work across Canada and internationally.
Gratitude.me is a project focused on the creation of a graphic novel. This novel explores intellectual property through the lens of a family drama set in the near future, where an artificial intelligence singularity, known as Intelligence, controls the economy and government. During this mini-residency, Michael Eddy will produce a risograph-printed concept proof of a section of the graphic novel. This prototype will serve both as a brief presentation and as an artifact akin to a patent for a future exhibition (in the legal sense of the term).
