Alcove
(Cette note n'est disponible qu'en anglais.*)
This note was created as part of interConnect, a collaborative inquiry into digital transformation. Learn more in the box at the end of the text.
Alcove is a digital artist database and art professionals network to make the studio work of amiskwacîwâskahikan-Edmonton and Northern Alberta artists accessible locally and visible nationally, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund, Latitude 53, The John and Maggie Mitchell Art Gallery, Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective, the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP) and the Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA).
Alcove’s goal is to create resiliency through the implementation of a digital platform that connects arts communities, now and into the future. Physical studio spaces can be temporary, and within Edmonton and Northern Alberta, are often isolated. Alcove aims to provide a reliable space to share in-progress work and connect with other artists. Alcove is at its core a space for artists to connect to each other, and to increase connections between emerging, mid-career and established artists. For curators and arts professionals, Alcove can serve as a digital tool for research for publications and programming, and allow them to connect to studio practices, similar to open studio events.
